It List: Thursday 7/20/06

Sorry, work issues, etc. have forced me to post a short but sweet list today. Weekender will be better tomorrow. And I've been having more problems with Myspace today that I don't feel like dealing with, so sorry if you haven't been getting bulletins or messages from me today (if you were expecting one.)

Warmermilks/ You Are the Universe/ Violent Squid: This is a FREE byob house show in Denton, and there is talk of a keg being in the area as well. Will be a fun show I'm sure. The house is located at 628 Lakey St. in Denton. HERE is the map. Starts at 9pm. Warmermilks are a great fucking band, and you know we're into URTU and VS, so you won't want to miss this. And its free, crybaby.

And DJ G will be throwing down at Hailey's tonight as usual with 80's house/electronica.

And moody post-rockers From Monument to Masses will be @ Rubber Gloves tonight.

not so sure about the keg, but there will def. be cans and bottles for sale (probably 1 dollar, donated to the touring band (warmermilks))

I have been waiting for a chance to see From Monuments To Masses for three years!!! I am so excited I wet by bed last night...

Sparrows Swarm and Sing are on the bill and they are pretty good as well.

This Will Destroy you is good as well and they are from Texas so it's cool to see them coming through.

Plus In Dot Dat!

Whateve Ed... ED 209 from robocop could totally kill the Ed from Fra Pandolf... that's right I said it.

From Monument To Masses totally rocked tonight!!! All three members are so tight and on live. I honestly can't explain other than when you listen to the studio recordings and you hear all sorts of guitar tracks... the aren't multitracking, he is just all over the place and a master of the line 6 delay, it was actually fun just to watch him on his delay modeler. The drummer is absolutely insane! I sweat he has eight arms, like some sort of octopus man! And the bass player is one of the few people that I can forgive for playing a five string bass because he had two E strings on it, one of which was in drop D... fucking neato!

Sparrows Swarm and Sing blew me away and I highly suggest everyone giving them a try... I also bought two of their albums and the award for the nicest packaging goes to them! There was a candle wax seal on it!

Really good show!

In Dot Dat was really good and it was great to see them live for the first time. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the choice in bass tone for the dark headed bass player but that may just be me... or it may have been rubber gloves, I dunno. Other than that they were really great... plus the audience was cut in half after they played!

m- seman does this in every thread on here and over at denton fag beard city. "I might be there!" "I am emptily throwing my support into this even though I'm really just going to sit home and talk shit!""typing a modest chuckle retort is the same as actual participation!" fucking politician

ooh yeah, that's it, or maybe he wanted to show denton off? possibly? maybe I'm wrong, but organizing a fairly successful festival with the sole intent of exposing interesting music from north texas along with being an overall nice guy and supporting a scene as well as any married grad student with a full time job doesn't exactly scream out "politician" to me.

now, this is only because I totally suck -- on every personal and artistic level imaginable

but, several months ago I played a show where only 5 ppl showed up & mike was one of them -- as far as im concerned the ground isn't as supportive as Shiny

Anonymous, you just crossed the line with that shit. Mike is one of the most straight up down to earth cool people and true supporters of art and life that exists anywhere. Are you crucifying him because he doesn't go to every fucking show? Or because he's not a confrontational shithead like the rest of us?

Michael is a lover of the Pickled Egg. It would therefore be unpossible for him to suck. Though, he would be better served with the vinegar egg versus the beet juice egg. I suppose you can take the yankee out of the beet juice, but you can't take the beet juice out of the yankee.

Mike is a rad dude... And it seems silly to expect someone to go to every show that happens around here. I guess some people don't understand that most of us have to work to pay rent and then go to shows.... Plus after I get done with work I am very often TIRED AS HELL!!! And I don't feel like going to Rubber Gloves or The Cavern until 2 am... I am sure everyone above the age of 19 has the same issue.

I wish mom and dad paid my rent to!
