It List: Tuesday 01/02/07

Hotel Hotel/Musica Mundana/MC Router/Super Ultra Fantastic To The Max (Club Dada)

"New Music Tuesdays" at Dada (or anyplace, really) are obviously going to be hit or miss. Tonight actually looks like a hit. Hotel Hotel is a seasoned experimental group from Austin that relies heavily on spacious atmospherics and sweepingly textured buildups. I'm most excited about Musica Mundana, a collaboration between two ex-members of Idi*Amin, drummer Boyd Dixon, and guitarist Paul Overby. Dixon is extremely skilled and his jazz-influenced playing sets him apart from a lot of local thumpers. MC Router is a "Nerdcore" rapper that sounds kind of like Neneh Cherry flowing about Bill Gates. Super Ultra Fantastic To The Max erased their Myspace page in lieu of getting an actual website. I highly recommend this practice to other artists, lest the lowest common denominator philosophy of being in a band take over the world forever.

Tonight at the Glue House in Denton is Gab Season from Plainview, and Jim Canton Phiggs from Sydney, Australia. Denton's Koleo starts at 9:00, then Gab, and then Phiggs joins them after a short intermission. If this show is anything like the last two Tuesdays, you might as well go ahead and call in SICK right now.

Hey, you two can be buttbuddies soon. It is confirmed that Josh is moving Rubber Gloves to Dallas where people can afford the practice rooms.
