It List: Tuesday

Well, nothing really. A recent look at my bank statement revealed that I had spent twenty bucks in one day on corporate coffee. Look, no matter who is elected president, I really need to learn to be less of an asshole. Know what I mean?

What I don't understand is why everyone's so riled up about gasoline prices when you assholes are spending 5 times as much at Starbucks and Banana Republic. Where are our priorities, hm?

Oh DL, don't feel too bad. I think every independently owned coffee shop is in Denton, so for the rest of the metroplex...corporate coffee it is.

Very nice coffee at White Rock Coffee, I believe it's also fair trade certified. Law and Coffee on Abrams is pretty good too. I don't have any problem with buying coffee from corporations, but I prefer the taste at the smaller shops.

Coffee Co. on La Vista does have killer produce, but they aint open at night. I miss Gachet being on Lower Greenville, which now doesn't have a coffee shop, which is lame. While I'm at it, could someone please open a bookstore in East Dallas? Paperbacks Plus doesn't count. I need somewhere to buy magazines and a newspaper other than the DMN. Who wants to start a newstand with me? Or maybe Good Records could expand their mag rack. Just thinking out loud.

I had a good cup at Murray Street Coffee or whatever it's called down past Deep Ellum toward Double Wide. Really nice artsy middle-aged couple running the place. I had never heard of it but someone said they've been there for years?

Hmmm....Starbucks purchases the highest quality coffee in the world and they also pay the highest price per pound over anybody else in the world. Starbucks also only purchases 2% of the worlds' coffee. Your five dollars goes to Coffee and Farmer Equity Practices which creates sustainability for coffee farms and the workers on that farm. Feel good about spending money on quality and help farmers and their families build schools and medical facilities in countries of origin.
Do your homework people....it's not just some corporation. They started out as just one store selling nothing but beans...just like everyone else.

Dude, Starbuck's does not purchase the highest quality coffee in the world, haha. Have you done your homework by TASTING COFFEE? People who think Starbuck's makes great fancy coffees haven't had real coffee, either. Just duped, that's all. You probably go there for the ambience you fuckin sheep.

Seriously 12:53, did you read this information in an ad for Starbuck's or something? If that company pays "higher than anybody else in the world" I will lick your balls if you are a dude. I'm pretty sure that since they have huuuuge buying power they can spend next-to-nothing for bookoos of beans. Since that is the case then why wouldn't they? Then they can charge a little more for the clean look and feel of all of the shit-eating-grinning stores combined with all the marketing they must keep churning out to keep the joint on the minds of all the yups and squares. There's only one way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll: unethical business practices.
