Art List

I was really glad I got to catch the New Media lecture at CADD last weekend. I might have a crush on Kevin Bewersdorf, whose work I honestly wasn't familiar with until the lecture. I hope you got to check out the gallery exhibits as well. It was nice to see some old favorites from Theresa Chong, James Nares, Justin Quin, along with some other names I didn't write down, and pieces I hadn't gotten to see yet. Here's the weekend in art:

FRIDAY

Brad Cloepfil, architect of the new Booker T. Washington High School, will speak at 7pm at the DMA.

SATURDAY

Cory Arcangel + Olia Lialina and Dragan Espenschied (And/Or)
Go to this, please! This is a big show for And/Or, and if you don't go for Cory Arcangel then go for Treewave and Farah. There is a walk-through with the artists at 7:30. Music starts at 8pm.

A little reminder that the excellent Kehinde Wiley exhibit at the Modern closes on Sunday.

When did playing NES Bowling on a big screen become art?

Is that a 'found' object?

don't be so stuck in the 50s, 60s n 70s or in the books.

most rep art around here is accessible for a reason much like radio music.

"I think of art, at its most significant, as a DEW line, a Distant Early Warning system that can always be relied on to tell the old culture what is beginning to happen to it. -Marshal Mcluhan

Chief of Staff Gen. T. Michael Moseley and Secretary Michael W. Wynne resigned over the department's concern over two incidents, including the August flight of a B-52 bomber that flew across the country with nuclear weapons.

"Focus of the Air Force leadership has drifted" in terms of handling nuclear weapons and equipment, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said.

Gates also cited this year's discovery that four nuclear warhead fuses were accidentally shipped to Taiwan in 2006.

Gates said he asked for the resignations after consulting President Bush.

I stood on an alien world and watched the star light stream though clouds of liquid nitrogen - entranced as the diamonds rained down on me as the pressures crushed the very carbon from the sky.

art is the biggest 3 letter word.

as an artist the key is to communicate your idea.

doesn't matter if it's figurative or expressive , the success is the understanding or the pursuit of understanding .

if you like crappy brushwork great , if you like tight realism even better.

enjoy each for what they are. one isn't better that the other.

your likes are limited to your exposure.

hurry up and get out of school and make some art maybe then you'll appreciate things more.

students geez they think they know everything.
