As far as I can remember, when South San Gabriel started it was just Centro-Matic with an added lap steel player. They played mellower stuff than Centro-Matic usually plays. I liked South San Gabriel more. I bet that's still what's going on but not sure.

If anyone goes out to see the Deerhoof show, show up early for Experimental Dental School. They're also doing Fun Fun Fun Fest if anyone's heading out for that. Their albums (especially) and live shows are fantastic.
hawnay troof (xbxrx) is better than dental school.
