About 1,000,001 ghost fouls and "star calls" ago, I used to like, even love, the NBA. The 80s were the pinnacle for sure. The 90s were quite a downward spiral, but I thought it would be better when that Jordan star-call garbage went to pasture [see "the time he pushes Bryon Russell to the ground then shoots an open jumper to 'win' the 'game'"], but if anything it's even worse now.

In addition to the overall insanity of the free throw statistics in the series, I would say that play last night where Wade pushes Dirk WITH TWO HANDS! with a minute to go [foul on Dirk!] was the one that did it. The Play that made me quit the NBA. For good.

It could have been a great series to watch, except the NBA's "star call system" - or was that its anti-Mavs bias? - made it impossible to enjoy these games in any way due to the sheer enormity and frequency of piss-poor whistles and ghost fouls in favor of the Heat at crucial times.

Yes, it was disappointing the Mavs couldn't overcome, disappointing that they folded, disappointing that the supposed Coach of the Year is too damn stupid to give his 2nd or 3rd most talented player (Marquis) hardly any court time the entire season (until that amazing stretch last night!), but the MOST disappointing thing was that the lasting image of the series is the never-ending march of Wade & the Heat to the free throw line, and those asinine whistles that decided the games and the "NBA Championship" where the players should have been allowed to. And this happens just about every year.

Seriously, what a POS league.

Never again.

What a disappointment. I’m obviously angry with the league, for all of the reasons mentioned above (video evidence from Game 6 is here). But you have to be equally frustrated with the Mavs. It doesn’t excuse the rampant favoritism thrown the way of Wade and the Heat, but our team simply fell apart in the face of adversity. Almost makes you wish they’d bowed out earlier.

That being said – no way will I ever again watch an NBA game that doesn’t feature Dallas. I have to support my team, but otherwise the league can go to hell. And Dwyane Wade?

1. Spell your name right
2. Stop flopping - you are embarassing yourself.
3. Fuck off.
