It List: Monday
Enon/Tame...Tame and Quiet/RTB2 (Lola's, Ft. Worth): Enon are one of those bands that's difficult to classify despite the fact that their music isn't really all that strange. My introduction to this band came in 2002 when they released High Society, an electro leaning pop record that featured everything from dance-rock to twee pop to straight indie jingle jangle jams, with styles clashing against one another and almost never blending together, rendering the record one that sounded like it was recorded by two or three different bands. Uptempo dance track followed by acoustic pop track, etc. This kind of eclecticism still seems to be what Enon thrives on, even though it feels decidedly less adventurous these days than it did even a few years ago. Something tells me this will still be a fun show, however, and this Touch and Go supergroup of sorts (featuring ex members of Brainiac and Blonde Redhead) might make your drive to Ft. Worth a worthy cause.
Cool Out (Cavern)
Jazz (Amsterdam)

Ft. Worth a Ft. worthy cause, wahoooooooo
for future reference - is it ft. worth or fort worth? i don't know, i'm from houston, the more glorious part of texas.
houston, the more intelligent part of texas...
Houston... the only city more irrelevant that Dallas.
fuck houston and dallas. Denton kicks all ass.
Houston is for cough syrup abusers. Dallas is for black tar heroin heads. Dentons for people who cant afford a razor.
FT. IS AN ABBREVIATION OF FORT, SO BOTH ARE ACCEPTABLE AS THEY MEAN THE SAME THING. KTHXBYE
I agree with anonymous, with this caveat: many people in Denton CAN in fact afford razors, they simply forgo the razor, and shop in thrift stores so they can fit into the scene.
In Denton, bushy beard + corduroys + neglected guitar tuner = popular!
Holy shit, people in denton wear beards? I've never heard that shit before.
You must be some kind of goddamned sociological genius. I'm gonna go
de-tune my fucking guitar right now!

Leave the Denton girls out of this!
"people in Denton CAN in fact afford razors"
we have to cut our cocaine with something
i believe houston is actually for sippin lean and denton is for cough syrup.
and i'm not sure if you've watched mtv jams lately, but if you did you could hardly call a city responsible for influencing all of that terrible radio rap irrelevant.
so denton has a few beards, at least its not overrun with homosexuals and white flight

btw if you wanna check out a bunch of homosexuals in denton go to 80s night. i got an awesome handjob in the bathroom a few weeks ago
Ft. Worth is a beacon of light right now. It's great how it can be in the same area, but so removed at the same time. Although, at the Enon show last night there were more beards there than at any Denton show I've been to in a while.
Where are all these thrift stores in Denton everyone keeps talking about? I can't be expected to pay retail prices on garments in this wintry economic clime.

I guess Denton showed up?
the thrift stores in fort worth deserve a hand job
Denton is a BACON of light.

Greetings. My name is Dave Sims and I've been retained, sort of, to write a weekly column for the Observer covering Denton music. It will be ~450 words, not yet titled, first one is coming out this week, to accompany a feature article on Denton written by Pete Freedman.
...
So...if you're so inclined, pile on with thoughts, rants, etc. What would you like to see covered? Not only in terms of underappreciated bands/acts/venues/house shows, but the Denton music community in general.
A bit about myself: I've lived in Denton for 13 years, work in town just off the square, and I've been a part-time freelance music writer for 7/8 years, mostly for Paste Magazine. I'll be out to see at least 2-3 shows a week, probably meeting a number of you and bugging you for contact info, news, etc. (if I haven't already)
There it is. Engage.
WHAT KINDA BANDS U LIKE DAVE?
How can you be a music writer while you have lived in Denton for 13 years and you don't know anything about music in Denton. I hate you.
There it is. You can engage my dick.
keep Denton beard.... Keep houston far far away.
laugh
