Laromlab / Robot Cowboy / Alex Atchley / Boogdish (1919 Hemphill): The show at 1919 is heavy on the electronics tonight, which further proves that they don't just have "gutter punk" shows here as someone said to me recently, and I won't mention any names. Anyways, Laromlab has a take on the 8-bit Commodore based micro genre that updates the beat somewhat, or at least uses the kind of throwback Eighties rhythms that have been so prevalent in dance music of the last half decade or so. Not only is that not a knock, there is a really focused melodrama and emotion to the instrumentals that is at first amusing but ultimately refreshing. The tracks on their page are really enjoyable. Robot Cowboy is another act that uses old school electronics, including a midi guitar and video monitor headset to top off the performance. I'm sure you've heard us describe both Boogdish and Alex Atchley more than a few times.

1919 does have a lot of "Gutter Punk" flowing through. But I also saw a Theater Fire/Yeti/Yells at Eels show there once. And a BestFwends/Koji Kondo/Angry Businessmen show.
(And they have a quarterpipe.)

I wouldn't say that 1919 has alot of gutter punk shows. I would just say that we have gutter punk shows. Actually, it would just be easier just to say that 1919 hemphill has shows.
I guess I should ask what the hell is considered gutter punk? I've been doing shows here for five years and can't think of any gutter punk bands.

1919 is just filthy hippies, vegans who will punch your hamburgers, and smelly anarchists, no gutter punks here just flower pettin polyamorous weed heads who have drum circles and do productions of stomp in our croc shoes,.there has been large amounts of every kind of genre at 1919, theres not even enough people in our scene to categorize what goes on, there is alot of bad metalcore more than anything, and a rotating cast of sketchy street people.

Melodica - $25 3-day Passes will get you into any venue all three days. There will only be 300 3-day passes available. They will be on sale at Good records or participating venues sometime over the weekend. Hopefully by saturday. There will be an indivdual cover for each venue ranging from $5 to $10.
