The Rest of the Week

First of all, we wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to the show at Strawberry Fields last night, and thanks to all the bands that played. Everyone was fantastic, and it was an honor to be involved with such a great line up.

A lot of us from WSJR HQ will be heading down to SXSW today to check out our day shows and have some fun. We're not sure what we'll be doing as far as posting for the rest of the week, but we do plan on getting a few It Lists together, posting pictures from our shows, and telling dumb stories about our adventures in Austin. We may post a lot, we may post a little. We don't know. But we'll have something for you over the next couple days, so stay tuned for.... uh, something.

the FRA HOUSE show kicked to much ass last night, couln't make it down the block. I wanted to end my night on a high note not saying that your show was lacking pleasure, it's just, well....everything else wouldn't have stacked up to David&Justin and Neptune. NEPTUNE was fucking way cooler than what i expected. Check em out soon if you missed.

I can't get over how fucking awesome both touring bands were last night. TNV played almost all my favorites and Psychedelic Horseshit was completely amazing too. Daaamn.

Headlights were fine, but I couldn't help thinking that I've already heard what they're doing. Sure, I like big beautiful warm fuzzy music but does it have to be that obvious? Its the Arcade Fire thing (at their worst) where excitement gets crammed down your throat. But I really liked how much Headlights were enjoying themselves while playing. It was obvious they believe in their music. Reach for those stars. What else would you expect from a post-emo band from the midwest?

Evangelicals' songs were better and I'd buy their album before Headlights. Their vocals were less vanilla - somewhere between the dude from Television and the dude from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, with their overall musical sound drawing more from the latter. I didn't care much for the flamboyant rock attitude though, which seemed a little forced. Maybe a half-full Cavern just wasn't the right place for a black lights and a fog machine. I liked them, but I guess not enough to keep me from leaving halfway through their set to finish that joint at home.

To 3:48pm:

I like what you had to say about how it's nice to watch a band who seems to honestly enjoy what they're doing, even if you don't like it per se. I get that feeling at house shows a lot, but it's mostly the positivity of the audience as opposed to the band. I'll be like, "Man...i'm really not digging these guys at all, but...hey, this girl sure is....and she's grinding up against my leg kinda' nice like! These guys aint so bad."

as if vampire weekend weren't shitty enough, why would you go to sxsw and stand in line for hours with all the other hypebeasts to maybe get to see them, all the while missing a million other bands playing at the same time?
