Abiku/Dream Eater/Smart Patrol/Naxat (1919 Hemphill): Apparently, Dream Eater changed their name from Amethyst, to Hate for Man, to their current moniker all within a short timespan. I can not keep up with this shit. Naxat is one of the two electronic music projects of Alex Atchley, and Smart Patrol features members of Bleach Boys and Undoing Of David Wright. The 1919 description says they'll be playing "technical licks" and "fast jams." In other words, nobody gets to make fun of this band for not knowing how to really play their instruments, whatever that means. I love live music. This is a chance to catch Abiku in Fort Worth if you missed them in Denton.
Ra Ra Riot/The Little Ones (Lola's): "OMG, this band Ra Ra Riot has a violin and a cello!" "Yeah, but what do they do with them?" "Um...Old instruments are cool."
Lost Generation (Fallout Lounge): This marks the beginning of a straight Techno focus for Wanz. From what I understand, Wanz will be focusing on a lot of the stuff popular in Berlin these days, but I wonder exactly what that means considering that there seems to be two opposing camps there: the party heavy Modeselektor types, and the minimal intellectuals. Who wins at the fight for Fallout Lounge tonight? That is anyone's guess. Ineka plays tonight as well.

we are only doing the We love Techno every other thursday and will feature some pretty cool guest DJ's and live acts over the next few months.
To answer Stonedranger's Question on which side of Berlin We may lean.....I play for all sides in Berlin. The minimal stuff, the rougher stuff and the more cerebral stuff. They have an amazing music scene going on in Berlin nowadays. I am pretty caught up on this stuff and Dubstep nowadays.
Thinking man's Future Dance music. A lot of the regulars around these blog parts will just never like some of this stuff, but I think it may have a wider appeal than people might think.
We are doing a tag team set tonight. Both armed with Laptops, Kaoss pads and kaossilators. That means a half live/half DJ set with us playing over each others stuff.
check out the kaossilator. They just came out. You are gonna see these everywhere by the end of the year. It's probably the coolest electronic toy I have ever played with. It has been very inspiring.

We could give two shits about what the observer says, thanks, and in fact, I had no idea they wrote about them at all. Of course, we enjoy criticizing such an easy target whenever it's worthy of our time (which isn't often, by the way), but we have never ONCE made a decision on what to write about or what kind of opinion to hold on based on what the Observer does or doesn't do. Frankly, we've been spending our evenings and weekends for the past two years doing and writing about whatever the hell we feel like, and as a result, have covered the local music scene much more thoughtfully and efficiently than the Observer, despite their budget and full time staff. Sometimes, doing whatever we want results in dissing the Observer, but for the most part, we honestly just ignore it.
