It List: Tuesday
The Breeders/Colour Revoult (House Of Blues): I still haven't figured out what I think of the new Breeders record. It's interestingly minimal and a fairly dark departure from their last record, which wasn't exactly chipper either. There are some real gems mixed in with awkwardly up front and dry percussion parts and the usual slurred, treated vocals. Overall, it's worth going back to and I'm looking forward to the band conveying their intentions on one of the most hated stages in the city (or in any city). The Breeders are a terribly charming live act, though it's doubtful this will top the Amps performance at Trees I caught at an already jaded fifteen years of age. I just want to talk about liking The Breeders so I won't say much about Colour Revolt, other than to say at least Deathray Davies aren't opening this time. At least they were kind of funny.
DJ Jazzy Jeff (Ghostbar): Innovative, scratch-heavy DJ and producer that is still capable of greatness, with a recognizable style that hasn't succumbed to every little stylistic change in Hip Hop. It's consistently annoying that such venues score respectable acts. That's kind of a running joke in DFW.
Disqo Disco (Fallout Lounge): Despite suffering from some unfortunate equipment theft woes, Disqo Disco will still be going on tonight.

New Breeders=Crap.
I got Iris stuck in my head now though YAY.
"It's consistently annoying that such venues score respectable acts."
It's straight cash, homey. Pay artists well, and they'll play anywhere.
ghost bar straight up overpays, i think thats part of the joke
Where is "Straight cash, homey" from?
Ah yes - Randy Moss. Never mind. Carry on.
I'd rather listen to Jazzy J on Ghost's setup than have his sound cut out or other ridiculous shit you hear go on at some of these crap venues.
Only other place that would be good to go would be the Loft.
and....The Breeders?
Those dykes are still milking it.
I would rather not see an awesome DJ at a place where you have to reserve a table.
I've been to ghostbar a few times and I dont ever recall having to reserve a table.
Then again I'm not there to bro it up in a booth or whatever.
Don't talk shit about a place that wouldn't even let you in. You do not have to reserve a table. The pretentious crowd makes it lame, not the bar, so go with a few friends and the crowd will just a be a conversation piece.
Yeah, but who gives a shit about the talent when you can be a cool indie know it all sulking at the Cavern.
I thought you knew this already.
People need to get over the whole "ghostbar sucks" thing. Yes, we get that the crowd there is D magazines target audience but you don't have to fuck the help to get your fix. Let alone "reserve a table".

i hate when people refer to people as music genre's (such as "emo"), but i have never heard anyone refer to someone as an "indie." wouldn't that be someone from indonesia?
agree. an indie person? independent from what? or an indian? or maybe just one of the most overused and meaningless adjectives to describe music.
I saw a pretty funny web documentary on the bbc called Are You One of Them? One of the stereotypes they picked was indie. This here 17 year old girl was calling herself an indie.
"People say we wear spray on jeans, but we don't care."
my dad says we use stereotypes to describe people because they're true
One time in social studies we were learning about Australia and the teacher was all like what do Koala Bears eat and I was all Bamboo but then this boy laughed and said its Eucolyptus and it made me bulemic.
Fuck Koalas
b-hole spittas
in regards to the thefts.
what's with the crowds that go hear these dj's then steal their gear.
you just can't trust anyone these days including your fans.
Just saw Breeders in SF. So great. Check it.
punk rock is dead and gone, but rock'n'roll will never die!
