It List: Wednesday

Nomo/Backside Pick/Fatty Lumpkin (Hailey's): Nomo is a sprawling, multi-instrumental project that tackles various strains of international rhythms, often sounding like Medeski, Martin and Wood if they got hung up on Afro-beat and never snapped out of it. The tickled Mbira and overzealous horn parts also show a debt to Konono and Hugh Masekela respectively. There are some are some keyboards and little electronic buzzes to keep things interesting, yet I always have mixed feelings about this sort of group. On one hand, if I were walking down Hermosa Beach, Harvard Square, The French Quarter or various other tourist traps where I've seen some impressive live bands playing on the street, I would probably be blown away by these guys. But to purposely drive to Hailey's to experience it is something that's more in the realm of jam-band geeks, which certainly explains an opening act with a name like "Fatty Lumpkin." At any rate, I'm sure you can take something from this group, even if it's an experience improved by being unplanned.

Combining five formats, including FisherPrice Pixelvision, this is a great film on the legal and ethical issues that surround the work of such groups as Negativland, EBN, the Tape Beatles, and John Oswald. It follows the issues raised by Negativland's infamous single "U2" and is of a format (musically and visually) that one would expect from people who have a collage aesthetic in creating art to comment on the media...

sellout?????????????????????????????

a. to dispose of entirely by selling.
b. to betray (an associate, one's country, a cause, etc.); turn traitor: He committed suicide rather than sell out to the enemy.

this compilation is free.you know you want one

10:52,

it's not so much a question of ethics as it is of JUST PLAIN BAD TASTE. A few good bands mixed in with nine hundred terrible ones. Great. Thanks for the compilation of mostly questionable music tied together with nineties industrial radio rock artwork. You can't sell out if nobody's buying.

I like bourbon and pinot noir...but not together.

Speaking of...2006 Oregon pinot noir

06 Domaine Drouhin P.N.-French winemakers in Oregon...
05 Carabella P.N. -Geologists make the best wines...
06 Chehalem 3 vineyards-Bright red cherry flavors with a bit of liquid smoke...This pinot would stand up to a steak.
06 Bergstrom Shea vineyard...Like Jesus Christ in silk pajamas sliding down your throat.
06 Panther Creek...
06 Domaine Serene..Grace Family..This will be something.
06 Cristom jessies vineyard...Robert Parker gave this 85 points...Oh well no one listens to critics anyway!

I would of been offended if it was kyle calling me "dumb" because i like him.

I have always been puzzled by why people have to write "period" out especially after a "."

Seems redundant but i'm not sure i know what that word means. Oh well i'll just keep drinking.

1999 Certan (Pomeral) 3000 cs production....85 Merlot, 10 Cab. Franc, 5 cab sauv. drink until 2016

black cherries, truffles, cedar, and vanilla. This layered, opulently-textured wine displays extraordinary purity, elegance, and finesse. It is a classic Bordeaux with superb palate presence that builds incrementally on the palate. The finish is long, with plenty of sweet tannin. Very impressive! R. Parker 91pts

$15.00...Only can do one at that price! We also have about 20 diff. 05's mostly in the over 40.00 range.

If ya wants give me your email...have some good deals.

Unfortunately I don't get out of Dallas much, due to not owning a car. So I'm not sure if I'd be making it out to southlake anytime soon. As for contact...Not sure if you've used cork'd before, but it's kinda like a myspace/facebook for wine. I just signed up for it. You can rate wines and get recommendations and such.
