Thursday: It List 1/11/07

Lost Generation/DJ Stephen R (Fallout Lounge)

Tonight Wanz will be playing Kill Your Idols at 10:00. SR did a great review when it was released on DVD last year. The Swans footage alone makes this worth seeing, but man A.R.E. Weapons sure make asses of themselves. I wish there were as many old clips on this as I saw at Weasel Walster's No Wave film fest in Austin a couple of years ago, but it's still a worthy effort. I'm really into this whole idea of showing an educational film before playing any music. If there were more nights like this then maybe I wouldn't have to get into fruitless arguments as much as I do. Knowledge is power, Dallas. Get powerful!

Jordan from The Flashlight Party (The Moon Bar on Berry in Ft. Worth)

Jordan will be going it alone in FW tonight. This is free and starts at 10 PM.

Well, I think the concept of SHQ is brilliant. Shows start at 8 and are over by 10. On the weekdays, this is perfect if you have to get up early. On the weekends, it's perfect if you're planning on going out later, you can go to SHQ as a pre going out thingy.

Secondly, $3 is pretty hard to argue with.

Finally, it's BYOB, so you could conceivably get shit hammered easily and cheaply.

completely biased not to mention marked men at secret HQs in tonite's SHit list. you mention someone playing a MOVIE over a Rock and roll show.

I completely forgot to put that show on the list. But I'm not going to apologize since you want to be so fucked up about it. I really like SHQ. We failed to put the girls playing cello there last Sunday on the It List and didn't get any complaints. Maybe girls that play cello don't whine as much as you, self-important with entitlement issues to boot. What do you think I'm biased in favor of? Give me a fucking break, "dude".

We love you too, WSJR. To the anon... It's pretty hard to be all things to all people, so we don't bother to try. If you are really a reader of this blog (rather than a bitter troll), I assume you are a fan of a certain... spectrum?... Of music. You will find that our calender is full of a lot of the bands from that... Spectrum?... plus plenty more.

Go ahead and tell me what's missing from a calender that includes, and yeah, I'm just copy/pasting here...:

By the way, the Marked Men show was rad, and the place was packed, and the bands made money, and so did we (no mas begging, knock on wood)and thanks to everybody that came out.

If it ain't worth your $3, well, them's the breaks.

Tomorrow night, Swithblade Razors... Burlesque Instumental Surf Rock? + The return of Landrest... Dancey electro + slinky bass awesomeness with a swirling operatic angel who sings like a demon? Can I use more question marks?

And then Saturday, Warren Jackson Hearne... The reigning lord of death folk with Mauve Ed Experience. Mauve Ed used to rock with Corn-Mo and this is his new project.

The bands and SHQ thank you for your support! Kissykissy.
