It List: Tuesday 5/1/07

Sorry, have to be short today:

Blonde Redhead/Annuals (Granada): Most people reading this probably know enough about Blonde Redhead to know whether or not they want to see them, but if you are inclined to go, I would highly recommend heading to the Granada early (what is early for the Granada, like 6pm?) to check out Annuals, a band that put out one of the most overlooked indie pop albums of 2006. If you haven't heard them, I recommend checking it out.

There's a Mayday Celebration tonight at J&J's featuring the International (a really great poppy folk anarchist group) playing a full set with small sets by Tex Winters, New Science Projects, Christian Teenage Runaways, Ryan Thomas Becker, and others. It's free, fo sho.

Eff - I forgot that Annuals were opening. Gotta find a way to get out of work early to see them too - "Be He Me", while being unfortunately titled, is a great record.

haha. for some reason the concept of making sure all the songs HAPPEN is really funny to me. "we gotta make sure all of the songs happen, maaaaan" it's probably just me but i get it. not trying dog on you or nothing either. just my own personal stupid humor i thought that i would share.

Annuals = terrible
Blonde Redhead = inverse of terrible

Great show by BR. Lots of noise coming from just three people - and their drummer was incredible.

NAMEDROP of the DAY:

ALERT!!!!!!!!
ALERT!!!!!!!!

Kronos Quartet are playing Mcfarlane auditorium at SMU next monday. Here is what they have to say about what they are doing that night:

Sun Rings, written by longtime Kronos collaborator Terry Riley, is an evening-length work in 10 movements. With visual design by Willie Williams, lighting design by Larry Neff and sound design by Mark Grey, Sun Rings is a multimedia production featuring a choir and both sounds and images from space. The piece, commissioned for Kronos by NASA and others, received its first performance at the University of Iowa's Hancher Auditorium in October 2002, and has since been performed in cities including London, San Francisco, Calgary, Tucson and Boston.
==============================
tickets are 14 to 59 dollars. The noisebleeds for this are not that bad. DO NOT MISS THIS. REALLY!!

They play on the new Amon Tobin who is playing The Granada tonight and
I hear they have been covering "Flugufrelsarinn" by Sigur Ros lately.

Stuff like this rarely comes here and it will sell out. I heard something about them being back by 100 piece choir including the Dallas Woman's Chorale who backed them in the San Franciso performance.

GEEK OUT!!!

Thanks Mwanza I wouldn't have known about that Kronos Quartet show. Been wanting to see them for quite some time.
I still kick myself for not going to Steve Reich.

I think Trinity is adorable. Gorgeous really. I would have hit on her more in the past, but I thought she was strictly a lesbian because she was always kissing girls. Dammit.

Guys, even if you're 100% positive she will only kiss girls, NEVER GIVE UP. All lesbians have a breaking point. Even K.D. Lang.
