It List: Tuesday 6/12/07
Fair To Midland/The Timeline Post/New Science Projects /Record Hop (Curtain Club): I'm not going to pick on a major label act that even Zac Crain thinks is lame. Easy targets are not my thing. This certainly is a hit or miss lineup, one that reeks of the lack of rhyme or reason that is the hallmark of many Gutterth-related events. My suggestion is to come early and at least catch the two acts worth checking out. It's probably the last chance you'll have to see Record Hop before Albini ruins their sound with his trademark gloss and digital tricksterism.
Teenage Cool Kids/Rocket For Ethiopia/How Hard/Tugnut (Eighth Continent): Various takes on punk history at the Eighth Continent tonight. Tugnut is comically disjointed thrash and they're not as bad as their band name. Rocket for Ethiopia is sloppy 80's influenced-punk with an impressive ugliness, particularly with the vocals. Teenage Cool Kids are the most melodic act and they play catchy emo-pop songs. How Hard is serious and tense rock with DC punk riffage.
ADD (SR):
Gashcat will be at Hailey's and The Great Tyrant will be at the Wreck Room in Ft. Worth. Don't have time to add links or full listings... just wanted to give a heads up.

I wish the NSP/Record Hop situation could have happened with better bands.
The Great Tyrant with Sleepytime Gorilla Museum at The Wreck Room!
TONIGHT!!!!
what's a "gutterth"? is this like computer speak? lol? rofl? bff?lmfao? omg? wwjd? WTF?!
The Fair To Midland show is at Curtain Club...not Double-Wide.
Record Hop will be taking the stage, in much the same manner as a chubby toddler takes a handful of creamed corn, at 8:30 in the PM.
Sorry, cha-cha. Thanks for the correction.
Haha. Nice post.
No problem. We have DJ Burlap in the bar on Tuesdays spinning old country stuff. Quite a bit different than a Fair To Midland show. Didn't want anyone to be disappointed.
drink-n-draw @ rgrs.
always a good time.
New Science at 7:30.// So early!
timeline post is a good band. stay to see them if you go.
Fair To Midland, are we back in the '90s?
The 90's will haunt us forever.
Curtain Club is still open?
Uh, yeah. The Wreck Room shouldn't be open anymore. The parking situation is bullshit and it looks like it's closed.
The Curtain Club didn't let people come in until after New Science Projects was almost done. Conspiracy?! Or maybe they were protecting them.
They were already letting people in, it's just that there was such a huge line that it was going slowly and they had to figure out the free CD situation.
The show actually sold out. Pretty crazy! That's a first.
That was definitely the best Record Hop show that I've seen.
Pretty awesome how everyone there got a free copy of the new Fair To Midland album.
Pretty awesome, indeed. More fodder for lonely trash cans.
theyll listen to it and secretly like it and wish that it was their band getting the attention, but then come on here as anon and rip it.
That sounds like something a twelve year old would say.
Research shows most anons are twelve.
research indicates FTM fans dress in jnco's and stink of cheese.
Upside might be the very worst band in all of the universe.
FTM = the best rock voice with a huge amount of range.
530- wrong.
New Science Projects sounded amazing last night. It's too bad the people working the door didn't know how to do their job.
Fair to Midland... wow...
I hate Dallas more now.
