Tonight is the cd release show for the much anticipated sophomore release by Record Hop, simply title "Record Hop." Local opinions have been favorable and we'll have our own review soon. Will Last Men blow out the PA at Dan's tonight? We'll see.

Neil Hamburger/Triggermen/Man Factory (Rubber Gloves): Neil Hamburger's brand of performance art/ comedy is actually pretty funny, more often than not. You should go just to hear his subtle insight on the lives of Courtney Love and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hilarious.
Les Claypool/Tim Fite (House Of Blues): Thank you, Les Claypool. For all the bass players you inspired in the nineties, and the millions of hours I spent listening to them popping and slapping their way through high school.
Lost Generation (Fallout Lounge): Disqo Disco will be filling in for Wanz tonight.

nobody would care about the record hop album if albini had not of pushed buttons whilst they played. not a knock on hop, actually i guess thats good marketing for them because every thing about them that i have read recently, which has been everywhere, (well, mostly just quick) includes that as if it is a validating point. but thats the music "scene" for you. if anything it speaks to the power of kurt cobain even this far removed.
young local music writers find their angle and go with it. The angle for the mainstream press is Albini. that's why I'm looking forward to the wsjr review so someone will finally talk about the music. I've heard the record. The music is good.
If recording with Albini meant as much as you say it does, then by that logic Burnt Sienna Trio and Early Lines are huge blockbuster bands since they both recorded with him multiple times.
Maybe if you didn't read Quick (and you shouldn't) you could get some better perspective. Kurt Cobain? Joanna Newsom and High On Fire are probably better and more current examples of the guy's staying ability. But he also recorded Stagmummer and Conformists. Do you know who the fuck that is? Probably not. Guess he isn't a starmaker after all.

i hardly think that recording with albini was a move for attention.
He does some nice recording albums and he isn't that expensive. Plus you get to meet the guy. "I saw a early bigblack video where he states in front of an english audience "I wouldn't wipe my ass with a cocteau twins album" That is humour. Well to me anyway.

nevermind... $7 for three locals? you'd think with a record release show where most people will be buying a record you wouldn't charge so damn much. i was all jazzed up on going, but not anymore, well done dan.
me thinks due to the $7 cover, the CD cost was dropped to $5 for this night. So instead of having your evening ruined by 2 extra dollars, you can have it rule by saving 3. maths.
