It List: Thursday 11/2/06

As you can see, we're really late with this thing today, so I'll be very short and you'll have to deal with it. We've got a feature post coming a bit later this evening, so keep an eye out for that if you wanna:

As usual, hip hop at the Slip Inn, 80's with DJ G at Hailey's, and Zoo video DJ at the Cavern.

Teenage Symphony is playing at Dada tonight with a soft rock/indie pop line up that I can't really say anything nice about (Rahim Quazi, The Antiques, The Felons), so my advice would be to proceed with caution.

And thats all I got for you right now. See you later this evening.

from the art prostitute website:

AL GOLSTEIN DISCUSSES SEX IN THE MEDIA AT THE ART PROSTITUTE ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2
Thursday, November 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m
6:00 p.m. Drinks and mingling
6:45 p.m. Al Goldstein and co-author Josh Friedman
7:30 p.m. Q&A

Before Rolling Stone Magazine, Howard Stern and Larry Flint, Al Goldstein was fighting for his right for free speech in the media.

Sex in the media has become more and more revealing. Popular shows such as Sex in the City, Nip/Tuck have joined the ranks of top shows that portray sex in America. Not only are there rate-busting shows, we have sexually implied advertising in TV, radio and magazines. Sex in the media is now very, very mainstream. So how did we get here? Ask Al Goldstein. He lead the underground press movement in New York and helped pave the way for Rolling Stone Magazine, Howard Stern and other media icons. His newly published book, I Goldstein. My Screwed Life, which will be reviewed in the New York Times, is a colorful story about Al’s need for self-expression, his relationships with Larry Flint, Hugh Hefner and many others. His personal stories, his unique perspective about sex in the media today will provide historical as well as entertaining fodder for discussion.

Probably worth it for anyone who lives in Dallas. Can't fuck with free drinks either.

these physicists tested the new ball and came to the conclusion the new ball is slippery when wet (perspiration yikes!), bounces not only crookedly but also four inches less. Why are they using it then?

http://www.nba.com/news/blackbox_060628.html

NBA says exactly the opposite about the ball. The only bonus I can ascertain with the new synthetic leather ball is that is doesn't require break-in time and there is more consistency across all the balls.
