Today is Improve Your Ice Cubes By Swapping Recipes Day.

Today is National Duran Duran Appreciation Day.

Today is National S’Mores Day.

Today is National Lazy Day, a day to take it easy.

Today is Missouri Day. Missouri became the 24th U.S. state on this date in 1821.

The 3-day Kool-Aid Days celebration begins today in Hastings, Nebraska, the proud home of Kool-Aid. They'll be pouring all 22 flavors at a gallon a minute at the world's largest Kool-Aid stand.

You can bet that WSJR will be celebrating.

Turn the's a brand new blog! It could help deliver us from under the thumb of the fascist and strangely confused self-designated arbiters of taste currently crapping up the Dallas music scene! Rise from your chairs for the day of reckoning is nigh!

i'm curious which self designated arbiters of taste laura p is talking about?

Duran Duran:

Best stuff was always most the b-sides.

Late Bar
Faster Than Light
To The Shore (it was removed later then put back on the re-released)

Hold back the rain (not the album version)

Ah fuggeit I liked all the (Night Romantics Stuff)

I am not a Duranie I swear!

Really I am not that bad! Hey my friend had the Duran Duran Arena Board Game! How fucking stupid is that, I had no idea what the object of the game was..?

I guess to get out of Duranieland or win John Taylors Coke, or maybe getting Andy Taylor some new gold Records that he auctioned off after quitting the band! Or hell maybe you get to bang their old crusty model wives!

Anthony Wilson dies from cancer

Anthony Wilson was an influential figure in the "Madchester" scene
Anthony Wilson, the music mogul behind some of Manchester's most successful bands, has died of cancer.
The Salford-born entrepreneur, who managed New Order, Joy Division and the Happy Mondays, was diagnosed last year during a routine visit to the doctor.

The 57-year-old, who launched Factory records and the Hacienda nightclub, underwent emergency surgery in January to remove a kidney.

He passed away on Friday evening in hospital.

Doctors recommended he take the drug Sutent after chemotherapy failed to beat the disease, but the NHS refused to fund the £3,500-a-month treatment.

However, members of the Happy Mondays and other acts he supported over the years stepped in and started a fund to help pay for it.

We are dedicating the Stereo on Strike Party next week to his memory. This is a major bummer

You are nuts.

With the departure of Mayhew went any hope of anything worthy being written about local bands... scratch that, any band that doesn't suck. This is the first time Preston (who looks like he has a lisp) has written ANYTHING about local bands w/o big record deals, and in it, he seems to pity the whole Denton scene since we didn't get that big pie in the sky! Oh well! We'll get a second chance! Thanks!

Really, I just discovered Denton last month when he wrote that big profile on new Denton, you know the one where he talks about Midlake and their record deal over and over again ...
