The It List: Wed. 3/8/6
1. The Party w/ Dj Nature (Rubber Gloves-Denton): Tonight is nature's birthday, so he thinks the party will be pretty crazy tonight. This will be a good opportunity to check it out for the first time if you haven't already.
2. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (Granada): I didn't really like their new album, Howl, when I heard it the first time. I thought the lyrics sucked and I wondered why they would abandon the shoegaze sound that seemed to work so well for them. Anyway, Howl has grown on me a bit, and they'll probably play enough old stuff tonight to keep you happy no matter what you think of the new one. Oh, and the word on the street is that Elefant bailed for some reason. Thank god.

Diego (lead singer to Elefant) apparently jumped off of a speaker at a previous show and broke his foot.
Oh crap! Will it hurt his modeling career?!
I can't decide if it's the fact that everyone tells me i SHOULD like the new BRMC album a lot that makes me not like it (though, ironicaly it's what made me buy it in the first place).... but yeah, i think the lyrics are just kinda fluff..... now, i sold the album so i probably haven't given it a fair shake as of yet... but i also don't really get why "growing up" has to sound so overdone.
get older, get an acoustic guitar, get some harmonicas... rediscover the blues, sound like KENNY WAYNE SHEPPARD (sorry, but it does... it all sorta sounds like that "blue on black" song to me)
Elefant blows donkey nuts. That dude ain't even pretty.
The remixed version of "Misfit" is awesome.
ok, so dispite not being a fan of the new album and not being interested in paying $15 for a ticket to a shitty venue tonight... i saw BRMC twice today; once during their soundcheck (a friend who is a big fan went to go try and get tickets at the venue.. the counter wasn't open so he wandered in, looking for someone to help out.. what he found was a band mid-soundcheck... we came along shortly thereafter).
after that we did what boys will do and then went to see a buddys band play somewhere... another buddy who really likes the new album wanted to go try and see what was up w/ the show, so we went by it after they had been on for quite a bit.... apparently b/c of the no smoking rule, they seemed a bit lax about the "no coming in w/o a ticket" rule, b/c me and 3 of my friends just sorta walked into the last few songs of the show, they talked to peter after the show... etc etc.
all and all, i'd say this: seeing peter play solo during the soundcheck was pretty damn cool, even if he was playing stuff off of an album that i don't particularly get.... seeing the brmc for free is something everyone should try... oh, and the granada is now allowing (get this...) GLASS bottles!
you heard it... glass.
oh, and this tour doesn't appear to be the "HOWL" blues-rock tour... they play the old shit, and they play it well.
...so don't just assume your wasting $ if you don't like the new one.
that last comment was one of the most incoherent, inane ramblings i've ever read. nice work.
did anyone go to The party last night?
Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul
did you cheat on that, or do you really remember the whole thing?
nope, and you did
New BRMC sounds like Bon Jovi.
