also forgot to mention that there will be a laura palmer instore on friday night at good records at 8p. beer and fun. WITH STREET HASSLE!

www.myspace.com/blacklung68

as of 6/8/07...

"Denton's Street Hassle will be celebrating their CD release this evening, and their fuzzed out, lo-fi take on 60's psychedelic blues rock and pop is actually quite good. You've heard all the influences 8,000 times, and you've probably even seen this exact list of influences 8,000 times: Velvet Underground, Rolling Stones, Stooges, Sonic Youth, T Rex, Richard Hell, stuff like that. But still, what you can't take away from these guys is their charming recording aesthetic and their ability to write a good pop song..."

I'm gonna go to the jandek concert, and take a picture of myself next to him, and then get that tattooed on my chest. I was fucking there man! See! *lifts shirt*, there's Jandek to the left of my nipple... no your left, that's a tattoo of Brian Dennehy.

oh... forgot about that one. I'll add it here in a few.

And is it lame that every time I see a reference to Nightwounds, I think of "Night Moves." That dumb song is stuck in my head right now.

That's a shame-

I'm really looking forward to seeing 'em play. They've got pretty interesting sound. I'm curious to see how well it translates live.

The Red Faced Laughter is certainly worth checking out at Fra House too. Played Metrognome a while back and impressed us all. They don't play very often, so catch it while you can.

Agreed. That will be a really good show.

Yes, yes- The Red Faced Laughter are quite good and put on an excellent show.

You can download a collection of their EPs at http://www.sendspace.com/file/h8kd1s - it's all good stuff.

The show on Friday will definitely be one of the better summer shows at our house. Can't wait.

anyone interested in Blitzen Trapper. I really need to be talked into this one.

I just got the blitzen trapper record about two weeks ago, and it's one of the few indie rock records I've really liked this year.

So go for me, because I can't.

Actually, I agree. In fact, I would say the exact same thing: one of the only "indie" rock records I've liked this year. Blitzen Trapper is the main reason I posted that show.

well, damn. there's like 3 or 4 real songs that i like but the rest sounds assy and tossed off. am i missing something?

Well I equate their album to flipping between two radio stations. Because there are the poppy songs, and mixed in between are those "mountain" songs.

If you're not a fan of both sounds(styles), I can understand being shaky on going to the show. Yes some songs have some wankery going, but I think it is more for fun than being showy.

Personally, I think they sound like they could be really fun live(read high energy).

However, I'm not familiar with the rest of their material, so I'm not sure what else they have up their sleeve.

Tickets are only $8. The it's at the loft, so is parking $10? I heard somewhere that parking SHOULD be free there, but maybe someone else can clarify that.
