Stereo On Strike

Wanz Dover has been playing great records at Fallout Lounge on Thursdays for months now, and he recently decided to take the concept just a bit further by forming Stereo On Strike, a new dj crew/blog/event promotions group with some big plans.

Wanz' weekly Lost Generation set will be just one small part of the Stereo on Strike umbrella, which will also consist of all future laptop deathmatches as well as a monthly Friday night show at Minc featuring dance music inside and IDM/laptop performances outside. As the dance/electro scene in Dallas continues to grow and prosper, we're expecting Stereo on Strike to bring something quite different to the table, with an emphasis on European electro, glitch, minimal house, dubstep, and a lot of other sounds that you can't find in too many places in Texas these days. You can keep tabs on Stereo on Strike by visiting their blog, which already has some great stuff posted including a live performance from The Field (who has released one of my favorite records of the year so far) as well as the Simian Mobile Disco interview below:

Stereo on Strike isn't new.

Other people (not Wanz) were using that name a few years ago in Denton. I seemed to recall he hijacked the name up there too.

Lame.

532... give me another dj in town that plays as much of a variety as wanz?? Follow up your complaints with some facts instead of the ten year old hate that you release.

-Denton thinks of everything first..god dammit

The fact that people are still lame enough to go to Skareoke isn't my fault... the last time I went in there was about a year ago and the place was filled with frat boys and dude bros who think of themselves as "totally crazy" because they've heard of Interpol. Blows.

The Thursday at Fallout doesn't get very good crowds, thats true, but the music they play is excellent.

Sorry to dissapoint but Stereo on Strike was started by the guys in Dreamtigers, Will Boston, David Gross and myself almost 10 years ago. Matt Piersall from the Dreamtigers came up with the name and the original idea. This relaunch was done with his blessing and encouragement. Almost everybody from the original Stereo on Strike is involved one way or another in the current.

Yeah...Skareoke draws more people. It's a Karaoke night that has built an audience over the past decade. Mark is a good friend of mine and I used to be a regular at Skareoke myself. I am just trying to do something different to add to the local culture. I don't know what I did to piss off 5:15pm and 5:32pm, but I am sure you are both stuck up elitists anyways. With all of the ugliness thrown at me on here I find it interesting that no one ever says exactly what I have done to warrant so much hate. That's because I have not done anything except throw myself into my art, be an avid music geek and help other people set up shows. If you have a real complaint about me then say it. Otherwise FUCK OFF!!!!

scaraoke is fun, wanz' night is fun. gabe is joining them so there'll be even more good/rare tracks.

viva la ability to do/hear a bunch of stuff in one night in one entertainment-complex-style place called expo park. it's like, omg, nine acres or some deal. when sloppyworld opens it'll be even more excellent and bursting w/fruit flavor.

I really like what Wanz plays, but I can't hear myself think when I'm in fallout. I love loud music, but you can barely hold a conversation in that place on Thursdays and Fridays. I bet if he turned down, just a little, more people would hang out(and hang out longer).

I erased two additional comments above. It's one thing to talk shit about someone, but I won't allow people to come on here and say stuff like that. It can be really damaging to someone, and I won't stand for it.
