kyle, i've lived in either dallas or austin for the last "27 years," and if you think austin is that much different than dallas right now, you don't have your eyes open.
go rent some shitty, hastily thrown up apartment in the edgy "eastside" and sip a mararita on south congress. then you can buy some furniture on second street and be done in time to catch austin city limits being filmed at the new W hotel.

This is ridiculous. I like austin and LOVE denton but we all know that austin lost the plot a long time ago. I really don't like all this fighting I think its rather childish. Texas is the home of the players and pimps! Keep together peoples.

i heard jack with one eye are playing sat. at amsterdam. not sure what to expect from them this time especially since theyve had the same 3 songs on theur myspace page for something like forever but i caught the end of their set at melodica fest and it was pretty psychedlic in a mary chain meets can sort of way. certainly not the same band i saw a few years back. if youre looking for something outside the ordinary id say go check it out. not sure about the other bands on the bill though.

texas is really hot. and really big. and still there isn't enough room. maybe because it's so hot. austin does something cool. and denton does some cool things as well as dallas and fort worth. all three of those places are so close to each other they end up sharing a lot things. austin is only 3 or so hours away. i don't think many people around here aspire to play austin truly. but whatever you think. i don't know what austin is all about really. i don't austin does. there is so much different shit. depends on who you talk to. here it seems people are intertwined in one way or another. we still don't know what it's all about but it's our's to figure out. lots of cool stuff migrates to austin from here and does cool shit. don't knock it. you don't have it all figured out. neither does this place.
