Kyle @ you even know who Mr. Rid is?

Besides having been in (arguably) the FIRST PUNK BAND in Dallas (Quad Pi), he's done more for progessive/interesting music than most people mentioned on this site combined.

Dallas may suck but keep in mind that most of the artists and musicians that make any waves here have roots in Little 'D'. Don't shit where you eat my friend...

to Former Dentonite...

I could care less. Im an Austinate of 27yrs.

Dallas and Denton can't keep things open. Its sad all the indie biz closings. I'll shit where I like and I'm shitting on all of you.

I live in the best place in Texas for music. You all leave in some wanabe place or some stepchild place. Go fuck yourself.

excuse you, Kyle. you may live in the music city, USA but we D&D'ites have Strident Zend/Autotramp. suck on some of that.

3:55 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

also, Strident Zend was, inarguably, the first punk band. and the first funk band.

3:56 PM
Anonymous Former Dentonite said...

Kyle, oh realize that the fact that you're posting comments here kinda negates your whole "I could care less" argument, right?

Have fun bagging groceries at Whole Foods to pay for the privilege of living in what is an amazing (seriously) town SO full of SHITHEADS and bands that the whole thing gets muddled-up.

4:03 PM
Anonymous kyle said...

You'd like are muddled up. Better than being in a place with so much musicians (denton) and playing in the same venue over and over and over and over because all the other joke places cant stay open.
Everyone one of you all either high tail it to portland or austin When shit gets tough so don't talk shit. You know better than I do how much you wish your towns could get their act together and keep an envious eye to us down in the heart of Texas. So fuck you.

4:07 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

kyle, i've lived in either dallas or austin for the last "27 years," and if you think austin is that much different than dallas right now, you don't have your eyes open.

go rent some shitty, hastily thrown up apartment in the edgy "eastside" and sip a mararita on south congress. then you can buy some furniture on second street and be done in time to catch austin city limits being filmed at the new W hotel.

you might take a look around before criticizing dallas for not being hip enough.

4:12 PM
Anonymous detonite hooker said...

This is ridiculous. I like austin and LOVE denton but we all know that austin lost the plot a long time ago. I really don't like all this fighting I think its rather childish. Texas is the home of the players and pimps! Keep together peoples.

4:13 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

everyone in austin, you included, bought into the hype. that's the first sign of being "uncool." (along with MTV declaring to the world that austin is the new brooklyn. that's pretty cool.)

i hope you enjoy hanging out at deville and peacock and overhearing everyone talk about how cool their jobs are and how cool they are for living in austin.

4:17 PM
Anonymous kyle said...

Thats why you all enjoy coming down here and playing our venues right. Exactly!

Shall I warm you up a plate of pizza from Hoek's Brutal Death Metal Pizza?

i heard jack with one eye are playing sat. at amsterdam. not sure what to expect from them this time especially since theyve had the same 3 songs on theur myspace page for something like forever but i caught the end of their set at melodica fest and it was pretty psychedlic in a mary chain meets can sort of way. certainly not the same band i saw a few years back. if youre looking for something outside the ordinary id say go check it out. not sure about the other bands on the bill though.

texas is really hot. and really big. and still there isn't enough room. maybe because it's so hot. austin does something cool. and denton does some cool things as well as dallas and fort worth. all three of those places are so close to each other they end up sharing a lot things. austin is only 3 or so hours away. i don't think many people around here aspire to play austin truly. but whatever you think. i don't know what austin is all about really. i don't austin does. there is so much different shit. depends on who you talk to. here it seems people are intertwined in one way or another. we still don't know what it's all about but it's our's to figure out. lots of cool stuff migrates to austin from here and does cool shit. don't knock it. you don't have it all figured out. neither does this place.
