my thought is that you should go find some other dfw blog if you don't like this one. or, how bout you set up some criteria against which each and every post here should be graded. why don't you set up your own "blog evaluation" blog. and when you post something unrelated to "blog evaluation," generally hateful comment publishers will attempt to hold you accountable and invite others to challenge the legitimacy of your blog.
No, no, no. You've got me all wrong. I'm trying to find the connection. I know there is a big undercurrent in the music scene right now. Some people find it controversial. Such as what that one person said a few years back about how going to an Undoing show is exactly what it must be like in hell. I would give my own thoughts, but I'm still just in the curiosity/analyzing stage right now. I actually loved the post today. I watched the whole thing and can't wait to see the second installment.
apparently Decline of Western Civilzation part 1(otherwise known as punk rock 101 when I was in Junior high in Wichita Falls) is getting a proper DVD release later this year. remastered and with a but load of bonus footage. This movie rules. part 2 and 3 totally suck balls, but partone should be required watching for anyone who likes classic punk.
Geek fact: The Chick Phranc from the band Catholic Discipline was actually the opener for the very same Morrisey concert that was posted on here a few days ago.hmmmmm!!
Yes! This is a great film. I also enjoyed the second one as well more from an anthropological context in some ways. I am bummed, however, about the third installment. I have heard that originally, the director was going to document the huge 90’s rave scene in L.A. (DJ Keoki, Electric Skychurch, etc...) which I think would have made more sense as it would have captured the progression of the area’s continually redeveloping youth culture from punk to metal to rave.
The “gutterpunk” situation, while indeed a part of the city, is/was not as musically influential nationally (nor as large locally) as the punk, metal, and rave "movements" were. It should have been a stand alone movie, not part of the trilogy.
to jonofdeath 7:59 this is wholly uninformed and purely speculative but my thoughts are this "undercurrent" has a lot to do with information proliferation, living under a blunt tyrant and in a midst of a culture war and understanding the importance of diy ethics or self reliance or some shit. i don't know i see all these nice people across all three towns making radically different interesting music they just all seem to know "what's up"
Similar reactions? AGAIN I DOn'T KNOW SHIT thank you for reading

"No, not at all......because I hate painters"
I like watching this on VH1C
I'm really trying to make the connection to Dallas/Ft. Worth/ Denton music right now. I would really like to hear some thoughts.

Jon: what do you mean by undercurrent exactly?
I didn't post the link with any particular connection to local music in mind, but I think the topic is interesting.

Yeah. I think it is pretty interesting. Maybe it's just a bit too vague to actually make a connection.
Off topic here, but ran across a recent interview with Josh T. Pearson from Lift to Experience:

I've seen the name talked about on here before so I thought I'd share. I know nothing of the guy or LtE.
