It List: Monday 9/10/07

Cool Out still seems to be going strong on Monday nights at the Cavern, and I would highly recommend it (especially if they plan on playing sets similar to Prince William's Italo/slow motion disco mix from last week).

Subhumans/Witchhunt/Sacred Shock/Krum Bums (Red Blood Club): Back when I used to listen to a lot of hardcore punk as a kid, I remember Subhumans being one of those bands I think I liked more for their t-shirts and album art than their music (Crass is totally better). However, the cult of followers that they have amassed over the years cannot be denied, and it's pretty cool that Red Blood Club landed this show. I know nothing about the other bands or the potency of Subhumans' current line up, but I'm curious to see what might happen at this show.

There are 2 bands called Subhumans. The Subhumans from Canada are better than the one from the UK, but both are classic old school punk and both are still making records and touring the world.

Subhumans had great gloomy artwork, stonedranger, but their lyrics and music held their own. SO fucking sharp and on point.

Also, I'm gonna have to disagree with 7.17 about the Canadian Subhumans being better.

Interested parties should check out EP/LP or The Day the Country Died.

Crass is better... much better (I adore Eve Libertine and Penny Rimbaud), but it's not like you can see them live anymore.

Last time I saw the Subhumans @ Trees it was a pretty tight set.

yes, the nardwaur interview with josh homme is good.

BUT, the nardwuar interview with paul gallagher that ends with threats of intense physical violence is the best!

I hear you 10:10

You think any of these dance punk bands (or whatever you call them) will still be touring and making records 20 years down the road?

Yeah, like those hardcore punk bands The Eagles and Rush! Still running strong.

It's actually Eagles (no "The")

No "The" in Bad Brains either.

These bands pre "The Band" movement.

Although The The are pretty cool.

That's funny. I sometimes eat at Suma on my lunch break from my office job. Don't remember ever talking about hardcore, though. Maybe that's because I'm usually alone. :(
