Art List

So here's the deal: All of us at HQ have decided that some of you might like to know what's going on in the arts. Every Thursday, you are going to get just that with our new Art List section.

If you have anything you think should be up on the site, email me at artnews@weshotjr.com.

Q. Multiple Choice

A. This is great!
B. Quit trying to be all things to all people, music blog.
C. You started as a music blog, clearly what you thought you were good at (and you are!) so what's with this art wannabe shit?
D. I wonder if this will be as frequent as the movie reviews? Burn.
E. This is great!

A. Yeah, one stop shopping. Good stuff!

Because finding www.glasstire.com is just too difficult. Well, at least here the list of galleries can be edited by elitist snobs.

Good move. Art and music are like beans and rice, peanut butter and jelly, jack and coke, Bogey and Bacall... We now have it all.

news flash: the sub-rosa is THE place to go when you're talking about art. real, bohemian artists, real galleries. she has local artist interviews and is all over the exploding art scene in deep ellum and expo park.
probably be a good idea to talk to her to make sure you guys are covering that area too. she seems like a helpful person.
she does a little music, but its mostly art.

ps. you guys need to put sergio garcia's solo show formal up. it's saturday night at kettle. the afterparty features the cool out, the party (nature, sober, select), killtronix, and hot flash. I'm shocked that you didnt see that.

Stick with MUSIC ONLY please. no politics, movies, sports or art. Stop stretching yourself thin or this will be garbage like the observer.

1107-- we DID see that, and it will be covered. We posted it on Monday Morning Rock actually.

And the rest of you: In case you hadn't noticed, we have new contributors on this website, and this post was written by one of them. You're right, I probably don't know enough about contemporary art in Dallas to write posts about it, but thats why I'm NOT writing posts about it. Someone who knows what they're doing is writing these posts. So give it a chance. If you can get this info somewhere better, than get it there. If not, get it here. Or you could try to check out both. I don't know.

What Denton Rock City is-

A place where bookers and promoters hang out and talk shit very unprofessionally about their clients. Desperate musicians then pat them on the back for it and say thank you.

DRC Breakdown:

64 Eels-Makes Kyle Cheatham look socially graceful. Says music blogs are stupid yet is an aspiring music writer.

Will E Mays-Almost clinically dead by way of alcohol. Most incoherent ramblings you'll ever waste time on. Uses the word "faggot" a lot.

Brad Williams-Loves semi-hollowbodies and circuitboards. Knows absolutely nothing about music that actually means anything since 1980. Motto is "If it ain't Stax, don't fix it." Posterboy for session hack idiots everywhere. Once asked who Daniel Johsnton was. Somehow the most arrogant member of SIlver Arrows. And that includes a male model.

Dr. Nate Cuddles-Tireless cheerleader of all things horrible. hates we shot j.r. more than the observer.

Schmancy- Just today, reposted the article the Observer ripped off of WSJR. Gives credit to Laura Palmer for Sloppyworld. Classic example of the lost and tired Denton/Dallas music establishment. Two years late to the game, every time.

Jason Reimer- Once got in a really lame argument passionately defending some dallas band on this blog. Wants a lot of credit for owning a Faust recording.

Moalderator-Endless devil's advocate with a tireless diplomacy that is ill advised. You can't be everyone's friend. Mutiny on the bounty. Victim of his environment.

Steakfinger-Never once right about anything. Sexist pig who posts pictures of women with cum on their face and asked why it was offensive to do that. Sexually frustrated and wonders why women can't just view sex like a "backrub." If you have to ask... Thinks you must have a masters degree in bass wankery to get music. If that's what music was about, I wouldn't listen to it just like I don't listen to yours.

Andrew Hime-Cranky ancient relic who has an unhealthy obsession with Josh Baish. complete fool.

These are some of the worst offenders. Most everyone else is okay.

DRC will respond to this post by either making their board private or changing the background.
