It List: Wednesday
Of course we have the regular activites this evening (It's What We Get at Hailey's and Taxi Fare at Zubar), but for something a little different, you might want to check out Fall in Love at Fallout, a pre-Valentine's Day event hosted by Circa 77 and featuring That's Whats Hot, a DJ I wasn't too familiar with until a couple weeks ago. If you check the Myspace page, you'll hear a brief yet excellent mix of Italo synth pop, classic house, and hints of sexy disco that will surely fit the mood of the evening. Anyone into Lindstrom or the Italians Do it Better roster will probably really dig it. Anyway, the organizers tell me they'll be giving away an all local compilation CD as well as a bunch of other stuff, so drop by. It's free, after all. Hopefully, Christmas bow tie dude will show up again.

Hey James? This is not the right comment section for you to be all rational and shit, okay? We operate on a surface level only. If a dude would rather be unique, fun, and spirited than wonder what is cool, it is our right ot tear him apart. I'ma cap the next mofo I see dress up for a sweet party. Remember: For we whot jr comment people, irony will always > fun. You can tell just by looking at that guy that he has a life. Not. Cool.
initially, i thought melodica might be a good idea. then came the streaming shit of sellout consciousness that followed. if we buy tickets, we buy them. if your dreams rot in purgatory, then swallow and shut the fuck up, please..................
god damn, there is nothing wrong with promoting your work!
if you don't like the idea of melodica, you don't like the idea of good music in dallas. and if that's the case, shut the fuck up and get out of the way. some of us are trying to do something positive with the talent we've got, and there is a lot more here than assclowns like you give the dfw area credit for.
just for curiosity's sake, sellout how?
You told people about it!
Heh...I hope people buy more wristbands because this is a good-hearted event trying to spread the good word that Dallas is actually conscious and can put something with soul together on a large scale representing all kinds of different music from the same geographical location, while adding a couple of free agents from outside the fold to bring home the championship. This is money and I can't wait.
I'm hoping the sellout post dude was kidding, because if not, its too dumb to even warrant a response.
Sellout consciousness hahaha
who are these people
kids, all you have to do to raise $25 is sell 5 hits of fake acid at a dance club and you're set. It's just that easy. That's what I used to do when I couldn't afford tickets to see Mudhoney.
Just a suggestion...
nowadays, you can just sell an aspirin as a tab of x. $25 in one quick sale, and then duck out of the club before they figure it out.
if you haven't noticed, dallas is pretty good about forcing non-commercial creativity and culture out of itself. as a result, there is not a significant musical culture that is affecting the nation or the world coming out of dallas, save for its rap community. why not try to make the electronic music community improve to that level as well? we who produce electronic music would like a more seasoned audience and more discerning ears, as well as just a greater appreciation for the art itself, and melodica is part of our attempt to encourage that.
