Melodica should be only one day, the roster of bands are not strong enough to be spread across all those venues on all those dates. A little over kill and it will be an unorganized mess.

Sorry. I disagree. every act playing really strong. I promise that if you go see the stuff you are not as familiar with(i.e. Yells at eels, Gerard Bendik Trio, Tidbits, molecule, Loop 12, Halo Kinetic, Total Vengeance, PSOAS, Subkommander, All in the Golden afternoon and lots more). The festival is to promote self awareness of the underground scene in your own back yard. The whole underground scene. If you choose to go and discover some new acts rather than just go see the stuff you know about you will probably be really surprised. If you wanna book a festival with a bunch out of town acts book your own fest. I wanted this to be much more about building our own community. There are quite a few bands from around here that I wish I could have squeezed in, but just could not fit anymore.
Don't be sheep. Go discover something cool without someone telling you it's cool first. Every act may not be for you, but I promise there is at least a few acts that you know nothing about that will possibly blow you away.
as far as an unorganized mess. without being behind the scenes i don't know how anyone could make that claim.
I challenge anyone to name any band on this roster that sucks, besides The Frenz that is. I already know many of naysayers that follow this blog think we suck(without ever actually seeing or hearing us).

Ha Ha...that sounds about right,but that's what makes these comment sections so enjoyable to read for me.There has to be more than the five bands I see posted on this site over and over again,and maybe Melodica will stir the pot a little and throw up a few more bands that will make the "It Lists" here,and therefore,a few more bands the readers can then complain about.

I don't think anyone was trying to say that this blog covers just 5 bands, but there is more going in this city than people really know about. Weshotjr definately has the best local coverage, but they can't be everywhere......or can they.
Go to the blog and download some of the music from Tidbits. Incredible stuff in a similar vein as Henry Cow or Art Bears. Those guys have been active around here for over 2 decades and I bet most of ya'll have no idea who they are.

It's a group started by SMU music professor Kevin Hanlon.They actually play stuff by Messiaen and Schoenberg along with origianl compositions. A perfect example of one of the acts that you never hear about that I would have liked to included in Melodica .

I have nothing against the bands or WSJR at all,I was simply commenting on the humor I find in the fact that the comments section on here.The Melodica Festival is just another in in a long line of things being of some benefit getting slammed for everything from a bands placement on the poster,to the lineup.You don't HAVE to go,but you COULD put on your own festival if you wanted to see only the bands you want,as has been stated.Sure,there are positive statements here,and I do not think people should not be negative when they have valid points,but sometimes the comments are so ludicrous as to make me me laugh out loud,case in point,my simple (dis)exaggeration at the amount of bands I see on here spurred such vicious vitriol.I just find it humorous is all.Thanks for the memories.
