Barack Obama's Speech

In case you haven't seen it or read it yet, take a look at the speech in full. It really is worth your time to watch the entire thing:

Incredible. I never hear anyone address mixed race issues, much less a presidential candidate. He should win simply for using the word "gangbanger" in a speech.

Uh......DL, no individual should win the presidency for using a word. That's crazy, c'mon, think about it.

All in all, good speech. I can't wait till it's sliced up and fragmented out of context.

Very powerful and nuanced. It came across to me as very honest.

I hate seeing political commentary posted in this blog. Music. Yes. Art. If you must. Personal politics. Please, no.

That being said, Obama simply exudes class. This video is just further proof of that.

hey 4:23, write your own damn blog if you're going to complain about someone else's.

Only discuss politics when it affects the music industry? It is odd that this site keeps "pimping" for Obama.

Why do you hate it, and what is so odd about it?

As wsjr is my main "news" source other than Quick (sad, I know), I like that you post this stuff. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't see it. I also like that nutty Robert Anton Wilson video you linked to.

What's the big deal with a little more knowledge? Click on the link or don't click on it, it's your choice. It's also the blog editor's choice to post what they consider important on the site.

Just because politics doesn't click with some people's notions of art/music/etc doesn't mean it doesn't click with the rest of ours. Some artists infuse political commentary into their work (and some do it in ways don't immediately seem apparent to their listeners/readers, either), but are you going to tell those artists they're wrong for putting their own take on the world into their songs?

Goodbye punk music, goodbye hip hop (and so many other forms of expression) if that's the case.

It's absolutely ridiculous to ask the blog writers here to censor their own beliefs in service of different opinions that politics and music/art just do not mix.

One of the reasons I'm pro-Obama is that he displays courage. He doesn't talk tough, he is tough. He walks directly into the sights of the idiocracy machine and says, "bring it!"

Was it stupid? Was it political suicide? Irrelevant. It was the right thing to do. He did it.

THis speech was hardly courageous... it was politics as usual. He was backed into a corner and he had to do this to get out. And he didn't do a very good job.. half the speech was pretty great..actually really great, while the other half.. well.. was just full of lame excuses that your ordinary politician would have come up with..

I still voted for him in the primary! Hill and Bill can suck it hard! hells yeyah!

This guy is everything I look for in a president. He's intelligent, tough, open-minded, knows how to genuinely smile/laugh, won't give me a look that seems to say "Have this fuck SHOT." when having a personal conversation with me behind closed doors(hypothetical)....would probably listen to what I had to say.

I haven't heard anything from Hillary yet except "Thank you, thank you" for 10 minutes straight, so i'll be sticking with Obama for now.

Obama just feels right. He seems like what's right for right now.

Plus I can't stand her cheeks.
