You guys should check out "The Photography of Vern Evans" album in the pics section of "The History of Dallas Music" myspace page.

I spent this last weekend at his place in Los Angeles going through literally thousands of never-before-seen photos of the first Dallas appearances of The Clash, Sex Pistols, Siouxie, Devo, X, Gang of Four, Stranglers, Talking Heads, Kiss, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, etc...

Vern and I were best friends at JJ Pearce High School. He lives out here now doing portrait photography for a living now.

I had good sound there last wedensday. The was OK(not great)for Great Tyrant. They need a DBX Driverack pretty bad. That tends to solve a lot of problems.

2 weeks? Take a restaurant/bar management class. The first 2 weeks are critical.

Currently the way they are trying to get repeat customers is to bash them? All they have to do is be polite with fair drink prices, and have a fun atmosphere. From the reports I've got on the days I was not there. It was the same story. Inconsistent prices, inexperienced staff, and if it wasn't for the entertainment it would have been a horrible time. Frankly without the support of the party, and parade of flesh there probably wouldn't be a reason for most to go to this place. For deep ellum I hope they succeed.

Are we so lazy now that we can't stand to read more than a few lines of text? This is kind of a silly criticism. I think folks around these parts just like to have something to complain about.

2:24 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

"inconsistent prices" - that shit is true. a beer cost me anywhere between $3-5, and wells anywhere from $3-$6! it's like moosh all over again. But at least the bartenders at the lounge acknowledged I was there, even if they looked like they wanted to slice my throat. douches at moosh's couldnt even do that.

And fuck the manager, he's not even smart enough to work at a bar not in deep ellum, how is he going to take constructive criticism? Probably the same way he pushes customers out the door.

Looked like a teen club from the outside.

obviously you care since you seem a little obsessd with going out of your way to mention that no one cares. To be honest most of my friends read this blog like the morning paper. Last I checked this was not your personal blog. If you don't care then don't read.

Well for one thing it isn't listed on Club Dada's website (which is now just a myspace page) or on any other big show list for the area. I did check Intelligence's Myspace page, however, and they have it listed there, so I presume its still going on, but I only did so after someone posted a comment about it. There has not been a word about the show anywhere, as far as I know.

Way to promote your shit Club Dada! I'm sure they'll have full page ads in the observer this week for all their upcoming tribute shows, though. Do they ENJOY not making money over there?

5:00 PM

seriously. i saw it was happening through a myspace bulletin from them about a waterloo instore, and figured perhaps they might be nearby. get with it club dada, no one is going to show up on a tuesday by accident.
